Pennzoil 400 Vegas Odds
Leading Contenders For Pennzoil 400 Success. It isn’t completely surprising to see that the Vegas Odds for NASCAR betting are dominated by drivers that have previously won this event. Kevin Harvick is the current favorite in the market, as he will be looking for a third success in the Pennzoil 400.
Vegas Odds Pennzoil 400
The unpredictable NASCAR season continues this week in Las Vegas after producing three straight longshot winners. William Byron got the win in the last race of the Florida swing in Miami. The three winning drivers this season, Michael McDowell, Christopher Bell and Byron have a combined four career wins, which shows you anybody has a shot this season.
- 2 days ago Kevin Harvick, who has won twice at Las Vegas and will start on the pole Sunday, is the 9-2 favorite in the 2021 Pennzoil 400 odds from William Hill Sportsbook. Denny Hamlin is 6-1, while.
- Pennzoil 400 odds to win this weekend's 2021 NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas.
That paradigm “should” shift this week as the NASCAR Cup Series heads out West to Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The Pennzoil 400 historically has been a race where former NASCAR champions dominated. In the past nine races a former champion has seen the checkered flag, including the past two where Joey Logano won.
This trend is mostly because Las Vegas Motor Speedway is your traditional 1.5 mile oval track. As I mentioned last week, it’s a track where success is usually found by veteran drivers. That said, there are seven former NASCAR champions in the field. Five of those drivers already won here in Las Vegas, including Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick, who has two wins during the nine race stretch.
While I expect the winner to emerge from those seven former champions, there are a few drivers who could break that streak. I’ll give you some of those drivers to buy and sell at the Pennzoil 400 in Las Vegas.
BUY:
Chase Elliott: (Odds: 8/1)
One former champion, who has yet to see victory lane in Las Vegas, is last year’s champion, Chase Elliott. The #9 car doesn’t have great finishing results here, but looking at how Elliot’s performed during the race may paint a better picture. Last year, he dominated the race leading 70 laps and winning both stages. A valve stem issue on his tire caused Chase Elliot to finish 26th.
The following Vegas race in the Spring, Elliott led 73 laps and won stage two of the race, before a late caution and pit stop led to a 22nd place finish. So, to put it all in perspective, Vegas wasn’t so lucky for him last year, even though Chase Elliot arguably had the fastest car in both races.
Joey Logano: (Odds: 8/1)
I’m not sure if it’s Vegas lucky vibes or good juju from Joey Loganzo’s sponsor (Pennzoil), but the #22 car has seen back to back victories in this race. If you take out last year’s spring race in Vegas, Logano finished in the top-10 seven straight times, including five top-4 finishes.
The Penske Fords usually bring their best race cars to the sponsored race and that’s shown in the results. Logano’s teammate Ryan Blaney should have won last year’s race, but a late caution spoiled his win resulting in Logano’s victory. The third teammate of the Penske trio, Brad Koselowski, scored Vegas wins in 2016 and 2014. Expect to see solid races from all three, but I think the #22 car is currently outperforming the others.
Alex Bowman: (Odds: 20/1)
If the trend of unexpected winners continues in Las Vegas, Alex Bowman may be the driver to come away with the win. The Arizona native has not only been good at this Vegas track, he always seems to turn it up on the West Coast.
Pennzoil 400 Vegas Odds
Last year, Bowman was racing for the win against Ryan Blaney with five laps to go, before a caution changed everything. His teammates Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson have great history at this racetrack and William Byron is coming off a win last week. The momentum of Hendrick Motorsports just may continue.
SELL:
Denny Hamlin: (Odds: 9/1)
You would have thought by now Denny Hamlin would have a NASCAR championship, but this week he’s one of the outsiders trying to end that streak of nine straight winners in Vegas.
Looking at Hamlin’s history at this track, it’s pretty subpar. He did have his best performance here this past September, where he led 121 laps with a 3rd place finish, but outside of that, he only scored two top-10 finishes since 2012.
Vegas ranks as Hamlin’s second worst track based on his performances in the NASCAR Cup Series. Look for the #11 car to rebound the following weeks, when they head to Phoenix then Atlanta.
LONGSHOT QUICK PICKS:
Austin Dillion: (Odds: 40/1)
The RCR cars have shown some speed through three races this season. Austin Dillion finished 3rd in the Daytona 500, and his teammate, Tyler Reddick, finished 2nd last week at Homestead.
I think they’ll ride that momentum and continue to bring a fast race car to the Vegas racetrack. Last year Dillion finished 4th in the Pennzoil 400 and had a decent run in the race in September.
